MARK A. HAYNES is engaged exclusively in intellectual property counseling, primarily involving patent prosecution and analysis of the scope and validity of patents in a variety of settings, including licensing, litigation and strategic planning. The primary technical focus of his practice is in computer related technology, including integrated circuits, communications, computer systems, the internet and computer software. He is also experienced in a variety of other technologies, including lasers, optics, radar, and integrated circuit manufacturing technology.
BSEE with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin (1977); JD from Stanford Law School (1981). Admitted to practice law in Texas (1981) and California (1984). Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (1982).

May, 1996 - February 1999, Member of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, CA, and head of Patent Prosecution Group for Computer Related Technology.
September, 1993 - May, 1996 - Founded and built Haynes & Davis in Menlo Park CA, specializing in intellectual property. The entire firm joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in 1996.
August, 1983 - September 1993 - First associate, then partner, of intellectual property firm of Fliesler Dubb Meyer & Lovejoy in San Francisco, CA.
In February, 1999, Mr. Haynes was an invited panelist on intellectual property in a Symposium entitled "The Legal and Policy Framework for Global Electronic Commerce: A Progress Report," at the University of California at Berkeley. Arising from the Symposium, he is author of "Commentary: Black Holes of Innovation in the Software Arts," Berkeley Technology Law Journal, Vol. 14, No. 2, Spring 1999. In 1993, he made a presentation to the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of California entitled "Software Patent Practice."
